CCTV & Access Control Technician

LOCATION:                        East Rand Gauteng

WORKING HOURS:           Monday to Friday – 07:00 – 16:00 or as requested by Management

REPORTS TO:                     Technical Manager

JOB SUMMARY:  Service, Maintenance, repairs and Installation of CCTV and Access Control systems. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform installations as well as outline maintenance.
  • Must have outstanding time management skills and be able to manage installations
  • Complete reports and communicate daily with management
  • Should be able to work independently and with little supervision
  • Interface with both customers and internal employees.
  • Diagnose problems with exiting systems and making necessary repairs.
  • Instal conduit

 

CCTV

  • Programming of analogue and IP systems
  • Fault finding on analogue and IP systems
  • Knowledge of IP switches
  • Knowledge of Routers
  • Knowledge of network
  • Wireless network setting up and configurations
  • Setting up of remote viewing on standard DVR and NVR

 

Access Control

  • General experience in Gallagher, Saflec, Impro
  • Experience with Morpho, Virdi fingerprint readers.
  • Experience installing and servicing Gate Motors, Centurion and Hansa
  • Experience installing and servicing Booms and Turnstiles
  • Programming access points
  • Ability to commission system
  • Fault finding on all levels

 

Minimum Requirements     

  • Must have a valid Code 8 Drivers license with an excellent driving record
  • PSIRA registered
  • Understanding of electronics, mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • 1-2 years of project management experience.
  • Gallagher Certified Technician
  • Avigilon CCTv Certificatrion
  • IT literate and be proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
  • Electrical experience an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Must be able to work with the Sales Team conducting site surveys and spec CCTV, Alarm System and Access Controlif and when required

Education/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Matric
  • A+/N+ Qualifications
  • Electronic qualifications
  • System Certifications

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):

  • Outstanding safety record and electrical installation experience
  • Previous CCTV experience is a plus
  • Experience installing and servicing Gate Motors, Centurion and Hansa an advantage
  • Experience installing and servicing Booms and Turnstiles
  • Estimating and Site surveys
  • Outstanding Customer Service Skills
  • Collaboration skills are mandatory
  • English speaking and writing skills
  • Previous knowledge of security systems & CCTV
  • Must have knowledge of low voltage electricity
  • Ability to take initiative and achieve results.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

  • Must be able to lift 25kg and be able to climb on ladders
  • Drive van and/or installation vehicle
  • Able to climb in overhead spaces and over and under obstacles
  • High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances. High degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to yourself and others.
